Temple Remains at Wieng Kum Kam

A solitary Buddha sits in the ruins of Kum Kam.

A solitary Buddha figure sits forelornly amidst the ruins of a temple at Wieng Kum Kam just outside Chiang Mai. This small settlement was built, and almost immediately afterwards abandoned, by King Meng Rai shortly before the founding of Chiang Mai. Ruins like this can found all over the northern Lanna region of Thailand and are believed to be between 600 and 1000 years old.
